Can the Viewers’ Outcry be Wrong?

Katie Derham is a most remarkable lady.

Presenter of the Proms, she is as versatile as any woman working on TV today and as a result has a solid base of followers who marvel at her good-looks, elegance and a body, at forty-five, which is the envy of most women of her age.

Although as a keen watcher of Strictly Come Dancing I, like many others, was surprised at her winning the dance-off last Sunday against Anita Rani and the Russian discovery, the most handsome and talented Gleb Savchenko.

Some viewers were naturally furious at the judges’ decision, which reversed expectations, but perhaps they saw something so promising in Katie’s performances which led them to believe that her bowing out of Strictly at this late juncture would rob the public of the most exciting final in years.

As a great admirer of Katie I find myself enthralled at the prospect of seeing her again, hoping secretly that she will shine next Saturday and thereby justify the judges’ decision to keep her in.

The outcome of this series will certainly prove the best so far and establish the ability of the BBC to produce programmes of such artistic merit.

And, finally, here is a picture of Katie and her dancing partner Anton du Beke in action…
