After receiving confirmation that Paul McGeough, author of Kill Khalid, is among those detained in Israel as a result of the attack on the Gaza flotilla, the renowned war correspondent, journalist and critic Phillip Knightley has given his thoughts on the situation.
In an email to me yesterday, Phillip said:
‘Paul McGeough, with his usual keen sense of where the news will be, has been seized by Israeli pirates in international waters off Gaza. They will regret it. McGeough was one of the few impartial Australian journalists reporting on Israel/Palestinian affairs. If the Israelis have alienated him, their cause is lost.’
